EDUCATION OPTIONS - GRANTS & FINANCIAL AID

Teach Kentucky has endeavored to provide tuition support to its participants. We have arranged two alternatives based on the content areas you will teach, the school and the district where you will teach. The two alternatives are described below.

Critical Content Areas

Teach Kentucky has arranged a special tuition reimbursement program with our hiring school districts. Teachers in following critical content areas are eligible: math, science, special education, and minority teachers in all content areas. To qualify, candidates must serve for two years and complete their certification and Masters program. Teachers will receive reimbursement for half their Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) tuition at the University of Louisville. Teachers will be required to maintain a “B” GPA in all courses. This "alternative route" program also incorporates the core requirements for completion of a teacher certificate including Kentucky's nationally recognized Teachers Intern Program (KTIP). Kentucky's teaching certification is highly regarded and accepted in 30 states.

The amount of the tuition reimbursement is approximately $4,000 (half of the total two-year tuition). The Teach Kentucky participant will pay the entire tuition for the first year of the two-year program and the district will pay the second year's tuition. The reimbursement will have a one semester lag so that teachers apply for reimbursement when they receive their grades during the second year.
