Praxis II Exams
Teach Kentucky requires each candidate to pass the appropriate Praxis II exam(s) in the top quartile for the subject(s) the candidate will teach. The exams are administered by ETS. Please visit the ETS website for more information about the Praxis II tests, test centers and dates. You can also view information on this website. Jefferson County will reimburse their qualified candidates for the appropriate Praxis II test(s).

Education Prerequisite Course Requirements
Applicants to the Alternative Certification Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program for Middle Grades, Secondary, or Foreign Language Education are required to complete all of the course requirements in their content area. For a listing of the content course requirements for each certification field, please click on the appropriate link below.
Applicants may be considered for admission with two prerequisite courses remaining.
Competitive applicants should present a content grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applicants with a content grade point average lower than 2.50 should consider repeating courses prior to application.
Note: Applicants may choose to complete the prerequisite course requirements through the University of Louisville or through another accredited institution upon prior approval of an Education advisor. Applicants should attend an Information Session or meet with an Education advisor for a transcript BEFORE applying to the teacher education program.
