Teach Kentucky is thrilled to announce that a 13-year veteran of its program, Austin Allain, received a 2017 Hilliard Lyons Excellence Award. Austin is the principal at Lowe Elementary in Louisville, Kentucky. He entered the Teach Kentucky program in 2004 after graduating from Washington and Lee University. Allain went on to earn his M.A.T. degree and principal certification from the University of Louisville. He was one of the youngest employees in JCPS to fill a principal role. Austin met his wife in Louisville and now has two daughters and one son.

The Hilliard Lyons Excellence Award program is in its fifth year. The awards were created to recognize local leaders in education.

To date, six Teach Kentucky educators have been honored with this award for their leadership and classroom performance.
